planning a trip to

Indonesia

Here is what you need to know: Indonesia Travel Guide

Indonesia was a blast for us. We started to explore Nusa Penida, an island south of Bali. At this time, it was still secluded, there were only a couple of hotels and barely one road. There we saw amazing landscape, far from the touristic crowd as well as the best snorkelling we ever made. Stunning corrals and manta rays. At night there would be no electricity!

In the Gili’s I (Alex) took my scuba diving licence while Tina was enjoying plant-based meal at Pachamama café.

Bali and Ubub were another great experience. This island had such amazing vibes, yummy food, great yoga studio.

It’s definitely a place we will go back to and are dreaming of everyday since we left.

About

Indonesia consists of more than 17 000 islands and is the world’s largest island country.

With a total area of 1 904 569 km², it is the 14th largest country in the world and is home to 267 million people making it the 4th most populous country in the world.

The Capital is Jakarta.

Indonesia has over 700 regional languages and over 300 ethnic groups. It is a melting pop of cultures.

The flag’s colors are derived from the banner of the 13th century Majapahit Empire.

However, it is believed been that the red and white symbolism can trace its origin to the older common Austronesian mythology of the duality of Mother Earth (red) and Father Sky (white).

Snorkelling is the islands of Indonesia is breath-taking. Not only that the corals were untouched and beautiful, but you can get the chance to see Manta Rays and Mola Mola.

Nusa Penida was the place where we discovered this heaven. Unfortunately, due to the strong current, the ocean can get dirty.

Komodo island is the habitat of the 3m-long Komodo dragon lizard.

Komodo National Park covers the entire region and is home to more than 4,000 Komodo dragons.  It is made up of rusty-red volcanic hills, savannah and forests. Plus its surrounding waters countains seagrass beds, mangrove shrublands and coral reefs. Another great spot for diving.

Indonesia is one the best destination for diver. Not only because the waters around Indonesian’s Island are full of wonder but also because it’s one of the cheapest places in Southeast Asia to get the scuba diving licences. Padi or SSI.

What to expect?
