Introduction: Bus from Montevideo to Colonia

To get from Uruguay to Argentina, the easiest way is by Ferry from Colonia del Sacramento (also called Colonia) and the easiest way to get there is by bus from Montevideo.

Getting there

From Montevideo, it is easy. COT has 12 daily departure. The bus we took was the 11:30am one and it was full at the departure time. We bought our ticket 2 days in advance, at the same time as we bought our tickets for Punta del Este from the terminal in Montevideo.

Schedule

The departure from COT are in the morning:

  • 00:00am
  • 05:00am
  • 06:00am
  • 07:45am
  • 09:30am
  • 11:30am

And the afternoon:

  • 01:30pm
  • 03:30pm
  • 05:30pm
  • 07:30pm
  • 09:00pm
  • 10:00pm

Bus & Terminal

Comfortable single-decker bus with AC, WIFI, WC. The road is in good condition

The bus terminal in Montevideo is Tres Cruces, it is recommended to be 30min earlier there.

The bus terminal in Colonia is Terminal de Omnibus Colonia del Sacramento and its located near the old city.
