Public Bicycles Buenos Aires: BA Ecobici

In order to get the bike, you will need to download an APP on your phone called: BA Ecobici

Once download, you will need to create an account, just follow the steps, input your name, password, identification numbers (passport), address and credit card. Yes, even if free to use for some reason you need to add you credit card.

You will need to have one account per person. And one credit card can only be linked to one account.

Getting the bike

Once you have the APP and your account, you can open it to see where the bikes are and if some are available as well as if some spot are empty (to put back the bike).

Once you’ve located the bicycles, just open the app, tap on the place you are (each station has a name) and tap unlock on the app.

The app will then give you a code that you will need to inset on the left side of the bike stand where a small keypad is. Once done pull strongly the bike.

If you are more than one with only one phone with data, disconnect you account and switch to another one and proceed again.

Returning the bike

When you are done, you just need to get back to any bike stand and leave the bike. For that you will need to lift and push the bike in. After a few minutes, the APP will know that you have given back the bike.

Tips

You can use the bike for one hour on weekdays and two during weekend. Meaning one session must not go over that. If you need the bike for more than that, you have to put it back and take it again. If you go over the time allowed which we did, you will simply get an email from BA Ecobici and won’t be able to use any bikes during 2 days.

It will be in Spanish but once translated it is:

Hi Alexandre!

We write to you from BA Ecobici by Tembici to inform you that you have exceeded the allowed time of use of the bike and that is why your user was disabled to use the system for 2 days.

We remind you that the term of use of the bikes is one (1) hour on weekdays and two (2) hours on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.

In addition, you can check the terms and conditions here.

Thank you!
