Introduction

San Rafaƫl is a small-town south of Mendoza, still located in the Mendoza region, it is famous for its wine and olive oil.

We stayed 2 nights there and that was the right amount of time spent.

Getting there

To get in, there are daily departure from Mendoza bus terminal. But you will need to check the time. We opted for a 10am bus CATA that we found online but when we got to the bus terminal this bus didnā€™t exist. We then took the ISELIN bus from 1pm. This was most probably the cleanest bus we took so far in Argentina.

Getting around

The best way to get around is definitely by car. There are some city buses but their frequencies are really low and it is not easy to find them. It is also almost impossible to find information about their line and you must stop them and ask the driver.

Things to do

Unlike Mendoza, San Rafaƫl is a really cute town with a nice city center. Spending a few hours hanging around it is a great thing to do.

While at it, stop at some hiking gear shops and go tasting some olive oil and other local products.

Out of town, there are a few spots to be visited as well:

  • Borges Labyrinth
  • Atuel Canyon
  • El Nihuil
  • Los Reyunos Dam

Those 4 spots where on our travel list but unfortunately, we didnā€™t get the chance to visit them. We visited town and wanted to get to the labyrinth but unfortunately, we never found the bus that get there. But we got a great time at our accommodation that was the HIGHLIGHT of the place.
