Cuba is a place full of surprises. Its history is complicated yet fascinating with the colonization’s and later on its revolutions. But now, that the trade embargo is over, Cuba is a country worth visiting.

For us Cuba was a family try and unless most of our trip it was organized. Yet we had a blast! So, either follow by yourself this itinerary or just get a first impression of Cuba before booking a tour.

It was an educational trip, well organized, lots of old cars and amazing places. Let’s discover this 2 weeks itinerary cuba.

Cuba is not a country that you travel flying, the best and easy way to move around is to take taxi, private car or just the bus. 2 Weeks Itinerary Cuba won’t allow you to see the whole island, but you will already get a first impression of it.

  • Day 1: Arrive in Havana

Day 1: Arrive in Havana

Fly to Havana, pass the immigration, and get to your accommodations. If time allows it, stroll a bit in the neighbourhood and then rest for the adventure that begins tomorrow.

Havana Travel Guide

Day 2: Explore Havana Pt. 1

Take a tour to Plaza de la Revolucion and Jose Marti Memorial where you will start discovering the history of Cuba. From there either keep on with a tour to the old city center or walk along the Malecon until Fortaleza de San Carlos la Cabana and Castillo de los Tres Reyes del Morro. You can either visit those 2 fortresses or just admire them.

At night, go to Hotel Nacional for a Cabaret show and a fancy Cuban dinner.

Havana Walking Tour

Day 3: Explore Havana Pt. 2

Let’s discover some more the old city with Habana Vieja (Old Havana). Stroll around it and visit Plaza Vieja, Plaza de Armas, Plaza de la Catedral, Havana Cathedral and Castillo de la Real Fuerza.

Make a stop at La Bodeguita Del Medio, the birthplace of Mojito!

Plaza Vieja

Day 4: Explore Havana Pt. 3

In the morning, visit the National Capitol Building and right to it, the Gran Teatro de la Habana. From there head toward the beautiful Convento de San Francisco de Asís.

To finish your afternoon, visit The Ernest Hemingway Home and Museum to learn about the famous writer.

National Capitol Building Havana

Day 5: Transfer to Cienfuegos and discover it

Transfer to Cienfuegos. Drop you bag and visit the French influenced Cuban town. Hang around the José Martí Park where all the major landmarks are before heading south to Punta Gorda.

Cienfuegos Travel Guide

Day 6: Transfer to Trinidad and visit it

Transfer to Trinidad and start exploring this stunning Cuban city. Plaza Mayor is just one of nicest square on the island. From the main square you can then visit Galería de Arte Universal Benito Ortiz, Church of the Holy Trinity, Museo de Historia Municipal, National Museum of the Struggle Against Bandits, Kirche Trinidad and Plazuela de Segarte.

Trinidad Cuba Travel

Day 7: Horse riding in the natural reserve

In the morning go horse riding in the Gran parque natural Topes de Collantes, discover local farmer life while drinking freshly made in front of you cane sugar juice. Later, refresh yourselve in a waterfall before heading back to Trinidad.

In the end of the afternoon, head to Playa Ancon, to chill after those horse ride.

Gran parque natural Topes de Collantes

Day 8: Transfer to Remedios

Transfer to the small town of Remedios and spent the night in a local Estancia! The experience is great, and you won’t regret it!

Day 9: Transfer to Cayo Santa Maria

Transfer to Cayo Santa Maria to spend the rest of your stay in a Cuban resort. Chill by the beach.

Cayo Santa Maria Travel Guide

Day 10: Cayo Santa Maria

Go on a scuba dive expedition! You will be able to do 2 dives. You do not need any special license for that and it’s a great way to spend the day. If you are lucky you will be able to spot beautiful fishes.

Cayo Santa María scuba dive

Day 11: Cayo Santa Maria

Go for a day or half day to Playa Las Gaviotas, one of the few beaches left on Cayo Santa María that is not connected to a resort. The beach is located inside a natural reserve at the far east of the island

Day 12: Cayo Santa Maria

Spend the last day in your resort and enjoy it at the fullest!

Cayo Santa Maria beach

Day 13: Transfer back to Havana

Take the bus back to la Havana. The ride takes 6 to 7h, so it’s better to make the journey one day before you return flight. In the evening, you will even have the chance to spend some more hours in Havana!

Old Havana

Day 14: Return home
