Introduction
Bratislava’s skyline has one unmistakable landmark — the UFO Tower perched on the Bratislava Most SNP Bridge (also called the Bratislava UFO bridge). Shaped like a flying saucer, it rises 95 meters above the Danube and offers the best panoramic views in town. From up here, you can see the old town rooftops, Bratislava Castle, the rolling Carpathian hills, and even into Austria and Hungary on a clear day.
We made the UFO Tower one of our must-stops while exploring the city, and it turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip and of Slovakia. The UFO Tower isn’t just about the view — it also has a restaurant and bar at the top, making it a unique spot to relax with a drink or a meal high above the river.

Why visit?
If you want the best views of Bratislava, the UFO Tower is the place to go. Standing on top of the Bratislava Most SNP (Bridge of the Slovak National Uprising), it’s the city’s most iconic modern landmark and one of the tallest structures around.
From the Bratislava UFO Tower’s observation deck, you get a 360° panorama: the medieval old town and castle on one side, the Danube flowing beneath you, and the sprawling neighborhoods of Petržalka on the other. On clear days, the horizon stretches far into Austria and even Hungary.

But it’s more than just a viewpoint. The Bratislava UFO Tower also hosts a restaurant and bar, so you can enjoy dinner or cocktails with a view. It’s a popular spot for sunset — watching the city lights come alive while the sky changes color is truly memorable.
Whether you’re in Bratislava for a day or longer, the Bratislava UFO Tower is one of those experiences that gives you a whole new perspective on the city.

How to get there
The Bratislava UFO Tower sits right on the Bratislava Most SNP Bridge, so it’s very easy to reach from the old town. From the Hviezdoslavovo námestie area or the St Peter’s Cathedral, it’s just a 10-minute walk across the bridge. As you approach, you’ll see the unmistakable flying-saucer-shaped top, so you really can’t miss it.
Plus, we really enjoyed the walk under the Bratislava SNP bridge, which gives you stunning views of the Danube. You need to walk all the way to the end of the walkway to get to the Bratislava UFO Tower entrance.

If you’re coming by public transport, several bus and tram lines stop near the bridge on both sides of the river. Use stop Most SNP or Pri sade. From there, it’s just a short walk to the tower entrance, located at the foot of the bridge on the Petržalka side.
For those arriving by car, there’s free parking available for 2 hours, though it can be limited during busy times. If possible, it’s easier to walk from the old town and enjoy the views of the Danube on your way.

Tip: This is the stroller we recommend for traveling — it’s super lightweight and compact enough to fit in airplane cabins.
When to visit
The Bratislava UFO Tower is open year-round, and each season brings something special to the view.
- Spring and Summer (April–September): These are the best months for long daylight hours and clear skies. You’ll often see the green hills surrounding the city and boats gliding along the Danube. Summer evenings are especially magical for watching the sunset.
- Autumn (October–November): The city takes on warm tones as the trees change color. It’s a quieter time for visitors, and the views of Bratislava Castle surrounded by autumn foliage are stunning.
- Winter (December–March): While it can be cold and sometimes foggy, on clear days you’ll see snow-capped hills in the distance. The city lights against a crisp winter sky also create a dramatic atmosphere.
In terms of the time of day, we recommend visiting either early in the morning for peaceful, crowd-free views or in the late afternoon leading into sunset, when the skyline glows and the city slowly lights up for the evening. If you’re planning dinner or drinks at the restaurant, time your visit so you can enjoy both daylight and night views.

How to Visit
Visiting the Bratislava UFO Tower is straightforward, but knowing the flow makes it smoother. After entering the booth at the base of the bridge, you’ll find the ticket office. If you’re traveling with a stroller, we recommend leaving it there, as the upper sections involve stairs and are not stroller-friendly.

From the ticket area, follow the signs to the elevator, which you reach by climbing a short set of stairs. The high-speed lift takes you almost to the top in just a few seconds. Once you step out, you’ll immediately see the restaurant and bar, as well as restrooms — handy if you plan to enjoy a drink or a meal before or after your visit.

To reach the observation deck, present your ticket at the turnstile and then climb a few more stairs. From there, you’ll step out onto the open-air platform with 360° views over Bratislava. The deck isn’t huge, but it offers plenty of space to walk around, take photos, and simply admire the view.

If you want to extend your visit, you can stop at the restaurant for coffee, cocktails, or even a full meal. It’s pricier than most spots in Bratislava, but the setting is unmatched. Many visitors time it so they can enjoy the daylight view, watch the sunset, and then see the city lit up at night all in one visit.

Is it Worth It?
Absolutely. The UFO Tower is one of those experiences that really gives you a new perspective on Bratislava. From the top, you don’t just see the old town and the castle — you see how the city spreads out across the Danube, with modern Petržalka on one side and rolling hills on the other. On clear days, the fact that you can spot parts of Austria and even Hungary makes it even more special.
We especially loved visiting in the morning, when the city was slowly waking up and the UFO Tower was almost empty.
Even if you’re only in Bratislava for a short time, the UFO Tower is worth adding to your list. Between the observation deck and the chance to enjoy a drink or meal high above the river, it’s a memorable experience that you won’t get anywhere else in the city.

Travel Tips
- Time your visit for sunset — it’s the most magical moment of the day, with the old town glowing in the evening light and the city gradually coming alive with lights.
- Expect some stairs — while the elevator takes you most of the way, the observation deck itself requires a short climb.
- Plan for at least an hour, more if you want to enjoy a coffee or meal in the restaurant.
- Bundle it with a Danube walk — the UFO Tower is right on the bridge, so it’s easy to combine with a stroll along the river or a visit to Sad Janka Kráľa park on the opposite side.
