planning a trip to
Brazil
Here is what you need to know: Brazil Travel guide
Brazil is home not only home to Brazilian but also to many indigenous tribes (also called Indians). By such, the modern parts would be on the beach doing barbecue and drinking beer while others will remain to its roots and keep a more natural approach.
Brazil was for many years colonized and therefor culture change from place to place. Some areas have a Portuguese influence, others German one, and so on. This also reflect the architecture of towns.
We spent a month in Brazil and we truly enjoyed spending time with Friends in the countryside and chilling on the beach of Jeri!
About
Brazil is the largest country in both South and Latin America.
It has over 208 million inhabitants, is the world’s fifth-largest country by area and the sixth most populated.
Its capital is Brasília, but its most populated city is São Paulo.
The green color is a symbol of the forests, the yellow represents gold, and the blue globe and stars symbolize the night sky filled with stars and constellations that also stand for the country’s states.
Brazilian relationship can be a tricky thing between men and women. Sex is widely spread, and it is most common to have more than one boy/girlfriend. The 1st stage is sex buddy, the 2nd is best sex buddy, the 3rd is official couple (but that needs to be asked properly from the man). The 4th is engaged, and 5th is married.
Brazil has one of the new seven wonder of the world. Christ the redeemer was created by French sculptor Paul Landowski and built by Brazilian engineer Heitor da Silva Costa in 1931. It has a 28m width and is 30m tall (38m with its pedestal).
Football is the most popular sport in Brazil. It quickly became a passion for Brazilians, who often refer to their country as “o País do Futebol” (“the country of football“). There are Over 10,000 professional Brazilians football player around the world and around 2.1 million registered players.
What to expect?
Language: The official language is Portuguese, and most of the people there speak Portuguese. Out of the main city (Rio, Sao Paulo, Floripa…) it will be complicated to only speak English. Spanish can help you in some way but will not solve all the problems.
Food: As most of the south American country, the main dishes in Brazil are MEAT, Meat and mEAT. But you can find some plant-based option all over Brazil especially if you cook yourself.
Transportation: Buses are a great mean of transportation. Brazil has a great network of highway and comfortable buses that can bring you around. But as the country is huge, flying will often come cheaper and quicker.
Money: The currency in Brazil is the Real (BRL). Rates changes, but at the time we were there 1€ was worth 5.5 BRL. Most places accept credit card and many ATM can be found around. Avoid airport ATM and perfer Bradesco.
Plugs: The plugs in Brazil are the same as in Europe, type C. The standard voltage is 220V with a frequency of 60hz.
Safety: Brazil is not really safe. While during the day in the main tourist area you will be fine, you will still encounter many homeless that would beg and follow you. After dark, avoid getting out or go out with a group.
