Mapping the day: Bus from San Rafael To San Carlos de Bariloche

Getting the ticket

As always, you can get your ticket online from Busbud or Cata website. But the best still is the bus station in cash as you might get a discount.

As a night bus it is better to purchase the ticket at least one day in advance if not more. That way you are sure to have a seat and be together.

We personally bought it in Mendoza, 3 days in advance while waiting the bus to San Rafael in the bus terminal.

It costed us 5760 pesos for the two of us, so 2 880 pesos each (36euros)

The bus

It was a double decker bus with Cama (bed) seat on the lower deck and semi-cama (half-bed) on the upper one. It had AC system working and WC as well. There wasn’t any USB though.

Seats were comfortable. There were 2 services onboard where a crew member offered coffee/tea with an alfajor.

The journey

The road was quite ok and not bumpy. It was possible to sleep (except for the time when the guy behind us snored that loud that the driver might have heard him…)

There were a few stops along the way but not every 5min.

We left from San Rafael with 30min delayed and we arrived at 14:15pm the next day in Bariloche.
