Day 2 Bled

Second day in Bled. Following the recommendation of our host we decided to go on a road trip with our car around Triglav national Park TNP). The cool thing with TNP is that it has roads in it and even some villages.

Most of the road we took were normal road with bitumen. Only there are quite narrow and while 2 cars car cross, we had to be careful.

Our program was: Pokljuska Gorge, Radova, Pericnik waterfall, Parkirisce (Parking before viewpoint), Kranjska Gora and Planica Nordic Centre

Ps: If you follow some our adventure, Tina is also a yoga teacher, so early morning, we went by the lake to record some exclusive content for her students.

During this day, we used Google map to guide us around.

Day 2 Bled of 3 days

Pokljuska Gorge

We left around 9:30am and headed for Pokljuska Gorge (Pokljuska soteska). It is quite easy to find but you have to go until the really end of the road to find a parking. When we left the main road and ended up in a 1-line road made of dust, we were questioning whether we were on the right path. We kept on till the end and found a parking at the entrance of the forest.

Pokljuska Gorge is a gorge like Vantgar but unline Vantgar it is really wild and completely dry. Also, it isn’t touristic at all. And while we were there, we only saw a couple of people. We were for most of it alone.

We started the hike around 9:50am. There are a short and long trail. Plus, it can be a part of a thru hike, the Juliana trail. We opted for the short trail which is also called the circular trail and can be done from both directions.

The hike is fairly easy to do, and the gorge is beautiful, especially the part where we passed within it. It is so different than Vantgar. We were back in our car by 11:30am.

Radova

We then drove toward Radova which is a village within Triglav national park. There we just made a quick stop to enjoy the sound of the cows strolling around their huge field.

The best part here was the ride, the road is super scenic.

Radova

Pericnik waterfall

From there we went to the Pericnik waterfall. We didn’t really stop as you must pay the parking 3euro or so. Also, we quite didn’t understand where to pay?

But in any case, we made a 5min stop and the best part is that from the road you can see the waterfall. Additionally, you can go on a small trail (600m or so) to go to the waterfall. As it was a bit crowded (it is quite small after all, so crowded is relative), we just headed on.

Viewpoint (Parkirisce)

We then simply kept on forward toward Parkirisce (Parking) which is the end of the road. This road like the one leading to the waterfall is a forest road. But that’s the right one. So don’t turn around if you see that it is just a forest road. Our car is a regular car, and it was pretty fine to go till the end.

Up there, we found a car park. We paid at the entrance 3,5€. And then we followed the path. First there was a mountain hut in a small open area. We took our launch there. As always, we had our lunch box 😊

After that we stroll a bit further toward a beautiful viewpoint of the mountains. Altogether, from the parking to the viewpoint, it was a 15-min walk.

Kranjska Gora

Then we hoped on the car and drove to Kranjska Gora. A small town nearby where our host recommended to stop and have a coffee. In fact, the town is quite small and while the city center is cute, most of it is hotel.

There is a parking right in the city center, so it was convenient. We then hang a bit around town before stopping in a local coffee shop to try the Slovenian local pie. The place we stopped was called Charlie. We recommend it.

We also took the chance to buy some stuff in the supermarket.

Kranjska Gora

Koca na Gozdu

After that, our road trip leaded us in “Koca na Gozdu” which is this is the beginning of a much longer road that go through the national park.  here is a mountain hut there with a beautiful view. We would not recommend going there as there isn’t much unless you wanna kept on your road trip south of the national park. But this could take more than one day.

Planica Nordic Centre

And finally, we drove to Planica Nordic Centre, a sky jump center where we saw people training in sky jumping. Yup, even in summer they are jumping but on the grass.

Return

Then we drove back. Two options, either the main road and highway which is some 50min to Bled or the same road as in the morning, which takes 10more min but guarantee you no traffic.

Once back in Bled, we had to change our accommodation as we booked late and couldn’t find 4 nights in the same place. So, we headed to our new one. It was located a bit outskirt of Bled but was amazing. It was an apartment (Gaby) in a local hut with a stunning view. Plus was super spacious and well equipped. We even could use the veggies form their garden.

Tina gave her yoga class and then we enjoyed the view with a beer and dinner.

Where to Stay

They also don’t move away or die… They go to “whistle to the crabs” (Šel je rakom žvižgat).
