How to make a successful Blog step by step
Step 1: Be patient
You cannot expect to be successful overnight. It will take much more than that and having a successful blog will require years of work. Depending on how much time you can dedicate to your blog, you will see result coming faster or not.
The essence is to be patient and will time success will come.
We started our travel blog one year ago and up to know we are proud of what we achieve. We like the design we made, we started having contents and the traffic of the blog is between 0 to 20 visit a day.
Step 2: Be committed
Do not give-up and keep adding content. Content (Pages and posts) are what you need to grow your blog. The more posts you have, the more pages you can design and the more attractive the blog can be.
There are no rules on how many articles, posts, pages you have to write every week to be successful. But it is important to keep adding some in order to grow your content.
The more content you have, the more visit you will have. There are some weeks where we do not write, especially if we are out hiking or traveling but then we are taking notes along the road to later on write our articles.
Step 3: Be creative
One way to really make a difference is the design of your blog. There are lots of blog out on the internet and posts can be similar from one blog to another. So, create a real difference in the design. The way it looks is one of the most important aspect in blogging.
If you have a beautiful site, with a great design, warm color, people will tend to spend more time on it and come back.
We also started with a really simple design but later we opted to redesign it. To do so, we are using CANVA PRO. It is not free, but it is most probably the best tool we have for design. Easy to use and truly time saving.
And as we mentioned earlier time is of the essence, so finding how to save time is important.
Step 4: Stretch your content
From time to time, it may become harder to find a topic for your next article. A great way to counter that is by stretching your content.
You may have already written an article on your weekend gateway which was a complete guide. But this weekend gateway can also be:
- Complete guide
- Best foods
- Best restaurants
- Best Stays
- Packing guide
- Itinerary
This way, one trip can make many different articles that will help your reader depending on which topic they are looking for.
Step 5: Take a Break
It is Sunday, you are working on the blog and catching up the time you could not spend on it the rest of the week. Well, do not forget to take a break. Spending long hours on the blog is a great way to improve it, but do not forget to rest and relax.
This will stimulate your imagination and allow you to later on continue on good foundation.
I spent lots of time on our blog. And when I am working all it all day, I take regular break every couple of hours or so. I get out of the room, take a small walk, go watch something…
And then come back to do some more blogging. That also avoid me being disgusted and overwhelmed by the blog.
Step 6: Travel
Ultimately, you will have to travel and enjoy. Once your blog is ready, get out in the world and get new experience to share with your readers. You do not need to get away for long period of time and sometimes a couple of days can make your work on your blog for months.
While traveling, you can also be posting if you have time for it and have your laptop handy. Or, you can simply take notes on your phone or in a notebook.
