Introduction

Krabi is one of Thailand’s iconic region with crystal clear waters, sandy white beaches along dense green forests.

Krabi is a region of Thailand with its main towns being Krabi Town and Ao Nang. Ao Nang being the most popular one and the closest from the nice beaches. You can go island hoping or make longer trips to the Phi Phi islands or Koh Lanta.

But it’s not all about beaches, this place has stunning temples and yummy street food.

Getting there

The best way to get to Krabi town or Ao Nang is:

  • To fly directly to Krabi Airport and from there take a local bus or hire a taxi
  • To take a bus if you are in a town nearby or even in Koh Samui

Moving Around

As always in Thailand, we would recommend renting a scooter. It’s the easiest way to move around freely and not to worry about a thing. It’s also the cheapest option.

When to Visit

This part of Thailand has a tropical climate, the temperature will not drop below 27°C. December to April is the best time to visit Krabi. You will enjoy a dry and sunny weather. May to November is the rainy season, at this time the crowd will be less but the rain more.

Generally, in Thailand, the to-go-food are:

  • Pad Thai (Thai Style Fried Noodles)
  • Som Tam (Spicy Green Papaya Salad)
  • Pad See Eiw (Thick Noodle Dish)
  • Khao Pad (Fried Rice)
  • Gaeng Keow Wan (Green Curry)
  • Pad Phak (Fried Vegetables)

Things to do in Krabi

Noppharathara Beach

Small beach best enjoyed in the morning during the low tide. The beach is less touristic than others, with less boats but still has a great scenery and warm waters

Ao Nang Beach

Ao Nang Beach is not the prettiest beach is the region and if you are looking for a more peaceful setting, Railay beach could be better call. Ao Nang Beach is famous for its nightlife and lively atmosphere.

PhraNang Cave Beach

Voted as one of the nicest beaches on earth, PhraNang Cave Beach is a top beach to visit. It has stunning scenery and really great water. In the peak season, the beach can though become dirtier due to the crowd.

Krabi night market

Like any town in Thailand, Krabi Town has a night market worth visiting. This market is open every Friday to Sunday with over 70 food stalls as well as lots of local sellers selling souvenirs. Do not miss the coconut ice cream with peanuts!

Railay beach is one the most attractive beach in Thailand, you will find stunning white sand, breath taking views and fantastic limestone cliffs.

Go on an island hoping tour

With over 200 islands sitting just off the Krabi coastline, it’s worth renting a boat from Krabi town or Ao Nang and explore the islands on your own or rent a boat that comes with a guide to simply relax whilst everything is taken care of.

One of Thailand’s natural wonders. Visit the warren of caves that sit within the jungle and house many monks living and worshiping. The caves can be explored, and you will find many icons and relics to take a look at.

Ultra-famous island for being used as the film location of ‘The Beach’ movie. Crowded but beautiful island reachable by a 45min speedboat ride. There are two islands, Phi Phi Don and Phi Phi Leh, Phi Phi Don.

Khao Khanab Nam

Explore the most famous Mountains in the region. The mountains sit on top of a large series of caves filled with stalagmites and Stalactites. Additionally, many human skeletons can be seen there. Most probably from people stranded during a flood. One of the mountains is climbable and offers some amazing views.

2h from Krabi Town, the island is only home to guesthouse and resorts. It’s the perfect place to relax at the beach or take a scuba diving certificate.
