Introduction: Gili Air Travel Guide
The Gili Islands are a group of 3 tiny islands – Gili Trawangan, Gili Meno and Gili Air near Lombok Island. Characterized by sandy beaches with palm trees, they are famous for their coral reefs. At Gili Meno, the smallest one, sea turtles swim at Turtle Point. At Gili Trawangan, the largest island, a sunken ship sits at Wreck Point.

Getting there
The easiest way to get to Gili Air from Bali is using the port of Padangbai. Another option would be to fly to Lombok island and then take a shuttle to Gili Air.
Be aware that if the sea is agitated, the ride may be your worst nightmare. For us, it was a piece of cake getting there, but on the way back it was rough. People were sick and vomiting everywhere, every time the boat took a wave, it was like taking a punch.
Where to stay
We stayed in “Oasi – Italian Pizza and Bungalow” an Italian family own place. The couple running the place was friendly and were making some yummy pizza at night!
Things to do
Scuba diving
One of the top things to do in Gili Air is to get your scuba diving licence. I did mine with Manta Dive Resort Gili Air. Jessy, my instructor was really cool. During lunch time or after, you can hang around and have a beer with the instructors and other divers.
The diving spot around the Gili’s are beautiful but if there are strong currents, it felt like flying underwater and we were moving fast without controlling it too much.
Yoga
If you fancy a yoga class, you will find happiness in H2O Yoga and Meditation Center. Though it’s not as good as a school in Bali, it’s still a great thigs to do.
