El Chalten is a small mountain village in Santa Cruz province in the “Los Glaciares” National park. The village is famous for behind near the base of Cerro Torre and Cerro Fitz Roy, 2 mountains famous for climbing but also hiking.
For those reasons, El Chalten was named Argentina’s Trekking capital.
The village inhabits around 350 people all year round. We stayed 3 nights there but if you would ask us again how many day in El Chalten, we would add one or two more nights.
