How to Visit Seville Day 1
In December 2021 / January 2022 we made a 10-day trip to Andalusia. Seville was our first stop. We spent 5 nights in this amazing city full of history as the city was Roman, Muslim, and Christian. We made an ultimate guide of Seville, but here we will talk in detail about the day-by-day itinerary.
This article is for the day 1 where we start with a Free Walking Tour to learn about the city and then hang around the biggest park in town before going back on the riverbank.
We tried making sense of this itinerary in order to avoid going back and forth. This guide is based not on the way we did it but on how we would have like to do it. But as always, we didn’t plan, and we had to adapt.
We will assume you stay in the same area (Triana) as us at (Misterhost Triana Patio de las Flores.) But you can easily adapt the starting point based on your accommodation.

How to Visit Seville Day 1
Free Walking Tour
Let’s start by booking the FWT here. We personally did it the same morning as the tour 😊 But you can also play safe and book it in advance. We recommend taking the FWT in English. During our visit we were 10 people with one guide compared to the Spanish group which were up to 30 people for one guide.
The meeting point is in Plaza del Salvador, next to the statue. The first stop will be on this plaza to admire the façade of the Church of the Divine Saviour.
From there, you will make your way to Plaza Nueva or actually the plaza de San Francisco to get a look at the City Hall and the monument dedicated to Fernando III El Santo. Time for some history about the life in this Andalusian city during the times of Al-Andalus and the Reconquista.
A few steps away, you will be at your next stop, the Plaza del Triunfo, where you’ll be able to see from one spot, the 3 main landmarks of Seville: The Cathedral and La Giralda, its bell tower, the Royal Alcazar and the Archivo de Indias.
You will dive into the history of these emblematic buildings as you admire their spectacular architecture
Next stop will be next to the Puerta de Jerez, where you will see the HÃspalis Fountain, the Yanduri Palace and the Santa MarÃa de Jesús Chapel. Nearby is the Royal Tobacco Factory.
And then you will finish in the world know Plaza de España, one of the city’s most iconic landmarks and the perfect place to talk about the 1929 Ibero-American Exhibition.
The tour will last 2 hours from 10h to 12h.
Lunch break
For this day, we would recommend that you bring your own lunch as you will be now in Plaza de España and the Parque de MarÃa Luisa. But, if you do not have it, you can walk back and find a nice Lebaese restaurant called El rincón de Beirut
Once finish head back to the park.
Parque de MarÃa Luisa
Because it is now time to either eat in the park of take a digestive walk in it. The park is huge and truly beautiful. If you like ducks or swans you can admire some in its pools, but if you prefer architecture, at the end of the park you will find the Museum of Popular Arts and Traditions & the Archeological Museum of Seville. 2 Beautiful structures in the park (closed at the moment).
Torre del Oro
When you want to keep on, you can start walking out the part and going toward the river to walk on its bank until the torre del Oro. Also known as the tower of gold, but not because it had a treasure but because of its color. The tower is nowadays a naval museum. If you are fan you can visit it, If not you can simply walk by it and enjoy the river banks.

And a bit further will be The Plaza de toros is the main arena of Seville where the ferias (bullfighting) are taking place. You can visit it on your own. It features a small museum and a visit to the arena.
End of the day
Now, you can simply finish the day and admire a sunset from the river bank.
