Where to stay in Copacabana, Bolivia

The highlight of our visit in Copacabana was definitely where we stay in Copacabana. It is called “Hotel y Restaurante LA CUPULA“. It is located a bit uphill over the Lake Titicaca. It is accessible and nearby all the great spot in town.

If you are looking where to stay in Copacabana and are looking to enjoy your accommodation with an astonishing room, a magnificent garden, a stunning view, some super cool lama?  This hotel is for you!

The piers to catch the boat to Isla del Sol, as well as the bus terminal, market, cathedral, and viewpoint, are all within walking distance. And if you’re concerned about the hotel being “uphill,” it’s just a few stairs followed by a 100-meter slope. There is a bunch of options for the room: Single, twin, triple, double, suite with reasonable price. We will here review on the suite with lake view.

One really great thing was that everybody there was kind and helpful. From the reception to the man giving you a hand for the fire. So, if you think you find where to stay in Copacabana: Click here to directly book it

La Cupula's room - outside

Our room was like a little apartment, very spacious and well equipped. What makes it exceptional is the design, it is made like a hut, with white wall in and out and stained windows.

The room come along a rock made table and during the day 2 laying chairs and 2 hammocks.

Even though it is too cold to eat an early breakfast or diner outside, it is a great spot to chill with a coffee in the morning and a beer after a full day hike.

La Cupula's room - kitchen

The kitchen was greatly equipped and we didn’t need anything else except the food. There were 2 cooking plates, two sinks, all the tools you would need to cook and plates you would need to eat.

The hotel is providing you with free: sugar, instant coffee and tea.

The breakfast is not included but can still be taken at the restaurant or cooked in your room.

Looking for supply for breakfast? Head down to town where you will find on the street parallel to the main one, a supermarket, a central market and lots of shops.

La Cupula's room - fire place

That was just the best! Wish for a romantic dinner, a glass of wine or something to warm you up?  It is your lucky place. The room came along with paper, wood and matches, so just go on and turn this thing on and enjoy!

Well, easier said than done. The first 2 day we only managed to turn it on but after 10min… the fire was off. Huum o.O ? We went to the reception to ask for help and a while after someone came and turn it on. We finally got its secret technique. Don’t do a small tippy with the wood in the middle, but instead put a lot all around and keep the middle empty for lots of paper. And if like us you used up all the paper (papel), don’t hesitate and ask the reception.

the rest of the room at La Cupula

Globally the room at la Cupula was well equipped. We got fresh and clean towel everyday, a comfortable bed, a shower that has lots of pressure and could be setup to burning out. Soap was even provided.

And if you are still too cold, you not really a man on fire, you have an electric heater.

We could only complain about one thing, it was that after 3 nights, our floor was quite dirty and it seems it hasn’t been clean during our stay.

La Cupula's garden

Still not sure about the place, it is not yet finished. This place keeps being legendary.

You wish to be social and meet people? They have at your disposal a garden with laying chars, hammocks and table and all of that with a view and flowers around.

Wondering how you will socialized there? You will be welcome by their 3 or 4 lamas. And if you feel like touching them, don’t be shy and ask the reception for some food and you will become the lama’s best friend.

La Cupula's shared and common area

As there are some shared rooms, they have common area for everyone. It consists of a living room, kitchen, toilet and the garden that you can use as much as you want.

Even after you check-out and drop off your bag at the reception, you can keep chilling around waiting the right time to take your bus.

La Cupula's restaurant

We always wanted to have diner down by the beach. We read lots of good comment and blog about the local restaurant there and how the grilled trout was delicious.  But we got lazy every night and ended up in LA CUPULA restaurant. Most probably, one of the best in town. You often see groups or people in it that are not staying in the hotel.

The food we got was always yummy and the service is efficient. Don’t forget to tip them as it i snot include in the bill. That was our struggle. How much do you leave?
