Introduction 1-Day Croatia Road Trip (Dalmatian Coast)
This itinerary is based on our road trip from Plitvice lakes to Split. We made this 1-Day Dalmatian Coast Road Trip on our month road trip to easter Europe to go from the amazing lakes of Plitvice to Split.
Along the way we stopped in:
- Zadar
- Å ibenik
- Trogir
- Split
It was actually not that intense and it was worth every stop. Of course you could spend more time in any of those places but as we didn’t have too much time we opted to them all in one day. We most of the time stayed between 2h to 3h
In all of them it was easy to park, and parking lots are on the map of our ultimate guide. So, don’t forget to check them out to know more.

1-Day Croatia Road Trip
Zadar
Let’s start by driving from Plitvice to Zadar. The journey takes around 1h45 for 133km. The road is easy to follow and there isn’t anything too special on it. Once in Zadar you can park next to the park which is 5min from the old city center.
Once in Zadar you can simply hang around the historical city which is nice but compared to other it was more modern and not that cute. So, we recommend not losing to much time in there to allow more freedom in the next 2 stops.

Å ibenik
Next Stop is Å ibenik, 1h20 and 74km away. Here you have to options for the road, either the coastal one that we recommend or the highway.
Šibenik is known as a gateway to the Kornati Islands, a group of islands located next to Šibenik.
But the best part is the old town of the city, made of cobble stone streets and filled with old stone building. It’s a wonder to just walk around and discover along many historical buildings and even a fortress.

Trogir
Go back up in your car and let’s drive to Trogir, still following the coastal road for 1h5 and 60km.
It’s known for its mix of Renaissance, baroque and Romanesque buildings and lies on a small island connected to the mainland and the island of Čiovo by bridges.
Our favourite parts were the old town of the city. Also made of cobble stone streets and filled with old stone building. We just enjoyed walking around this pretty little town.

Split
Time to go on the last bit of road for the day until Split. 33min and 28km to the final destination. You will most probably arrive late in the afternoon. So you can just check-in your accommodation and then go out for diner in the city center of Split or just rest for the night.
