Spain is an awesome country to visit. It has everything travallers are looking for.

If you want to hike, you can enjoy the northern region with the Pyrenees at the french border or Picos de Europa. If you prefer beaches, Spain has stunning one on the East and South.

If you are looking for sun in the middle of the European winter than Andalusia, the region south of Spain is the place to go. There you will also find the strait of Gibraltar where you can see Morocco. These parts mix Roman, Muslim and Christian history!

And if you want a more remote location, Spain also has the Canary island next to Africa.

Spain also known as the Kingdom of Spain is the second largest country in the European Union with 505 990 km². It is the sixth most populous country in UE with over 47.4 million inhabitants. 

Its capital city and biggest city is Madrid.

Spain history dates back from the Pre-Roman people some 42 000 years ago. Through the age, Spain was under many influences before becoming a large overseas Empire with lots of colonies.

The colors represent the bullfighting. Red represents the blood spilled by the bulls whereas the yellow represents the sand in the bullfighting arena. In the coat of arms, the castle represents the royal family of Castille, while the lion represents the kingdom of Leon.

One of Spain most famous danse is Flamenco, an art form based on the various folkloric music traditions of southern Spain, developed within the gitano subculture of the region of Andalusia, but also having a historical presence in Extremadura and Murcia.

One of Spain most famous cultural fact is the Bullfighting, a physical contest that involves a bullfighter and animals attempting to subdue, immobilize, or kill a bull, usually according to a set of rules, guidelines, or cultural expectations. 

One of Spain’s most famous way of life is the culture of Tapas. To simply sit in a restaurant and eat small bites. Tapas come in huge varieties and differ from place to place but they sure are really famous there.

What to expect?

Language: The official language is Spanish, the second most spoken language in the world. French or English are also widely spoken.

Food: The main food is Spain range from the famous dry meats to seafood. Some of the best things to eat are Tapas, Paella, Sangria… There isn’t much traditional vegan option in the traditional cuisine, but you are able to find some variation.

Transportation: The best way to move around the country is by bus or by train. Both have great networks.

Money: The currency in Spain is the Euro.

Plugs: The plugs in Spain are type C. The standard voltage is 220V with a frequency of 50hz. Which is the same as all European countries.

Safety: Spain ranked 38 out of 163 countries in the 2020 Global Peace Index. Violent crime is rare, and Spanish locals are usually very accommodating to tourists.
