Introduction: 6 Weeks Itinerary in Argentina

With 6 weeks you will have enough time to visit most of the best spots in Argentina. You will be able to go from North to South and see tons of wonderful places.

Starting with Buenos Aires you will discover a beautiful capital city before heading north to explore the largest waterfalls on earth. From there, you will get to the hippiest city of Argentina, Capilla Del Monte. Later you will find a German-like town in the middle of the country before riding to Mendoza, the wine regions of Argentina. Wine tasting and tour are on the menu plus a hike to the base camp of the highest summit in the Americas. After all of that, San Rafael will be a small break before entering Patagonia.

San Carlos de Bariloche, will be the first stop in Patagonia. The seven lakes and the stunning mountains are one of our favorite places in Argentina. Then going real south to El Chalten to hike some of the best trail on the planet. El Calafate will make you see a glacier from real close!

From there, you can make a small stop in Chile and hike Torres del Paine, one of the most known natural parks in America.

The last stop will be Ushuaia, the end of the world or so… Walking with Penguins while respecting them and learning about them will be the highlight! Let’s start with the 6 weeks itinerary in Argentina.

Day 2: Visit Palermo

Head out to explore Palermo district. Stroll Around Plaza Serrano, get an ice cream at Rapa nui, visit Plaza Italia, discover Jardín Botánico Carlos Thays, Bosques De Palermo and the Jardín Japonés.

Day 3: Visit Recoleta

Take a metro and get to Avenue Alvear, the champ Elizee of Buenos Aires. Stroll until Plaza San Martín de Tours and then head to Claustros Históricos Basílica del Pilar before visiting Recoleta Cemetery. From there head to Plaza Francia and Floralis Genérica.

Day 4: Visit San Telmo & Downtown

Take the Metro until the Merca San Telmo (be sure that the FERIA is that day, if not switch the day), from there get all the way up toward downtown to discover the amazing flea market of San Telmo. Along the way stop at Basílica Nuestra Señora del Rosario.

Once at the end, visit the Plaza de Mayo with its cathedral and numeros monuments before heading toward Florida Street, the Obelisk, Teatro Colón and the Plaza Gral. Lavalle

Day 5: Visit Puerto Madero & La Boca

First head to the old port of Puerto Madero. Hang around this beautiful area before heading toward the Reserva Ecológica Costanera Sur.

Then head south to La Boca District to discover a small but colourful place of BA.

Day 6: Visit Belgrano & Tigre

Get to Belgrano (or China town) visit the Chinese-like street before taking the overground to Tigre where you will hang around the canal and discover a small and quiet place not far from BA.

Day 7: Spare day in Buenos Aires

With all there is to do in Buenos Aires, it could be hard to do keep on and having a spare day would allow you to take it easy.

Also, at night, go try some tango lesson in Cathedral Club! It’s amazing!

Day 8: Fly to Puerto Iguazu

Get back to the airport and fly to Puerto Iguazu and get ready to see the Iguazu waterfalls.

Day 9: Visit of Iguazu waterfalls (Argentinian Side)

Take the bus to the Iguazu National Park Nature Interpretation Center and spend the day discovering this beautiful part of the world.

Day 10: Visit of Iguazu waterfalls (Brazilian Side)

Ride on the bus and cross the border to Brazil and get to Parque Nacional do Iguaçu. You will then see the waterfalls complex form another side.

Day 11: Fly to Cordoba and ride to Capilla del Monte

You will first need to take a plane to Cordoba, from there get to the bus terminal and then ride on a bus to Capilla Del Monte

Day 12: Hike Paso Del Indio & Explore El Zapato

In the morning walk toward Hike Paso Del Indio and hike it. Then go back to chill by the small lake at its entrance.

In the afternoon, visit El Zapato, a viewpoint of the city and then discover the Lake Ej Cajon Dam.

Day 13: Hike Cerro Uritorco

The Cerro Uritorco or Uritorco hill is the peak of a mountain chain called Sierras Chicas. Its summit stands at 1949m above mean sea level. The site is a private property but is open to public. Let’s hike it.

Day 14: Visit Los Terrones Park

Los Terrones Park It is a private property whose greatest charm lies in its curious rock formations of reddish sandstone, and sedimented colours dating back 180 million years ago.

Day 15: Take a bus to Cordoba and then Villa General Belgrano

Today, let’s head south to a German town in the middle in Argentina. To do so, first take a bus to Cordoba and then transfer to Villa General Belgrano. Start hanging around town.

Let’s get to the Wine Region of Argentina. First take a bus to Rio Cuarto and then transfer to another one for Mendoza. Once there, start exploring the city.

Time to visit 3 Vineyards and Wineries on a tour with bus vitivinicola. Most probably the easiest way to do it as well as the most budget friendly.

Day 20: Aconcagua Provincial Park

Wake up super early go catch your bus to Aconcagua Provincial Park. Then hike this beautiful mountain to the base camp Confluencia before heading back down.

Day 21: Take a Bus to San Rafael & Explore

In order to keep going south, let’s head to San Rafael, last place before we enter Patagonia. Once there take the afternoon to visit town.

Day 22: Bus to San Carlos de Bariloche

If like us you are taking a night bus to Bariloche, ask for a late check-out and chill some more in San Rafael.  Relax at your accommodations before the long overnight bus.

Day 23: Cerro Campanario

Relax in the morning and then head to Cerro Campanario. You can either hike the way up and down or simply take a cable car to get the best view in town. Then head to town to visit it some more and explore its small markets.

Rent a car or take a bus to Villa La Angostura. Explore the small town and its port. From there take a boat to Los Arrayanes and then hike the way back.

Day 25: LLAO LLAO Park & Circuito Chico

Take a bus to Villa LLAO LLAO, and start hiking around LLAO LLAO municipal park, pop by its summit, keep on to the hidden lagoon and then hitchhike to the Patagonia beer factory.

Day 26: Refuge Frey via Cerro Cathedral

Wake up early and take a bus to Cerro cathedral station. From there take a cable up and start hiking toward Refugio Frey. The way is rough but beautiful and if you are lucky you will see condors. Once in Frey, take the regular road back to loop the hike back.

Day 27: Kayak on the lake

Last day in Bariloche. Wake up early and get a Kayak. From there follow the coast all the way till Villa Campanario. From there return on the other side of the lake.

In the afternoon, relax for the last day or visit more town.

Day 28: Plane to El Calafate and Shuttle to El Chalten

The first week of our 3 Weeks Itinerary in Patagonia is ending. Time to get moving.  Get a last easy morning before going to the airport and taking a plane to El Calafate. From the airport there take a shuttle to El Chalten.

The fourth week of this 6 Weeks Itinerary in Argentina is finish.

Day 29: Hike to Laguna Torre

Organise a shuttle for tomorrow to go to El Pilar (beginning of the Laguna de Los Tres hiking loop). Then head off and hike to Laguna Torre.

Once there, chill in front of the beauty of the lagoon before going on to Mirador Maestri to get an even better view toward the Torre Glacier.

Day 30: Hike to Laguna de Los Tres

Wake up early and catch your shuttle to El Pilar. Pass by the Glacier Piedras Blancas before continuing toward Laguna de Los Tres.

On the way back use the regular hiking trail to walk back to El Chalten.

Day 31: Transfer to El Calafate & Perito Moreno Glacier

Get your 7:30am transfer to El Calafate. Drop your bags and then reach the Perito Moreno Park to admire a breath-taking glacier.

Day 32: Bus to Puerto Natales

Take a bus from El Calafate to Puerto Natales (Chile). Once there, get to your accommodation and based on the type of hiking you will be doing in TDP get ready for it. Buy supply and food around town and pack your bag!

Day 33: Torres del Paine (TDP)

Get on the first bus to TDP national park. From there take the ferry to Reach Paine Grande. Hike from Paine Grande to Grey Shelter.

Day 34: Torres del Paine (TDP) W-Trek

Wake up early and hike toward the Grey shelter viewpoint before keeping on the O-Trek and the suspended bridges. Then go back to grey Shelter and hike to Paine Grande.

Day 35: Torres del Paine (TDP) W-Trek

The second week of our 3 Weeks Itinerary in Patagonia is ending but a lot more is coming. Hike from Paine Grande to Italiano and then Britanico. Come back to Italiano and then reach Frances Domos for the night.

Day 36: Torres del Paine (TDP) W-Trek

Hike from Frances Domos to Chileno. Stop along the lake for some of the best view in Patagonia and chill dreaming by the lake.

Day 37: Torres del Paine (TDP) W-Trek

Hike to Los Torres lagoon before heading all the way down to the entrance of the park. Take the bus back to Puerto Natales. Once in Puerto Natales get your bus ticket to Ushuaia if not already done.

Day 38: Bus to Ushuaia

Take the bus to Ushuaia. Once there get to your hotel before strolling around town and discovering the town in the end of the world. Organise your walk with the penguins for the next day.

Get to the tour! Take the bus and admire the Flag Trees. Then get to Martilo Island (Hammer island) to discover the preserved land of the Penguins. Then go back to Ushuaia by cruising on the Beagle channel and the Lighthouse les Eclaireurs.
