Our 3rd night was in Domos Frances in a bunk bed in one of the domes located there. It was the most original accommodation of our W-Trek.

Introduction: Domes Frances

Domos Frances is similar to a shelter and offers bunk bed in shared rooms. Only that it’s isn’t in a regular building but in domes.

It is located in the south of the park between Italiano and Los cuernos.

Not only this place is different from the others due to the dome, but it also has a nice view toward the lake.

Unlike our other reviews of the accommodation in TdP, we will only review the domes here and not the camping as they were not next to each other’s.

Shelter/Refugio

General information

There is a total of 4 domes plus one domes as dining room/reception. This is so far the smallest of the shelter in the park we had.

The Dome's room

Each dome has a capacity of 8 people separated in double bunk bed. Each bunk bed is itself separated from the others creating some privacy in a shared room.

The ceiling/roof is made of plastic, so during hot days, it may get warm inside but for us it was fine in March. There are windows in the rear part of the domes, but you can’t open them.

On the rear of the domes there is a bench to be shared between 4 beds, on the other side small chairs.

Each bed is equipped with its own light and USB. Along with the bed comes a pillow and a sleeping bag.

Bathroom

Each dome has one WC for men and one for women, and the same for the shower. In the shower there is soap and shampoo.

Shared area

There is a small minimarket where the reception is but nothing too fancy. And much smaller compared to Grey or Paine Grande. But you can still get some beers, foods, snacks and emergency supplies.

The common area is in the dining room. Only accessible after the food service at 7pm and 8pm. So around 9:30pm. If needed you can get cups from them.

There is no kitchen (place to used gas stow), but you can cook on all the table around the site.

The available table around are quite limited but offer a great view.

Drinkable hot and cold water are near the reception
