Introduction: 3 weeks south America Packing

Hi guys! here is a little post on what we brought with us to our 3+ weeks in South America. Clothes, vanity set, backpacks and so on…

Our trip was during July 2019 which is the winter season there. Weather was supposed to be dry and sunny. With an average between 5°C and 20°C.

Based on that we didn’t bring any thick jacket nor rainy one. We also opted for a maximum of one-week clothing and used only dried cosmetics.

Packing it

In order to gain as much space as possible, we used compression bag. It also allowed us to make our life easier as when we needed something from the backpack, we just picked up the compression bag we needed instead of looking for the right clothe.

Recommendation

After traveling with all of this, there are a few things we would change.

  1. Use a headlamp instead of a regular torch
  2. Use a mobile phone instead of the camera to save lots of weight (approx. 2kg)
  3. If you don’t do yoga, you will save a good 600g to 1kg compared to us
  4. We would bring a laptop instead to keep writing the blog.
We only had one day with rain (Machu Picchu), so a foldable rainy jacket could also be a great idea.
Cold wise, we went up to -15°C in Uyuni tour but it isn’t worth bringing a thinker jacket as you won’t need it elsewhere.
