It is the perfect country to humble yourselves by learning Yoga, exploring its many land, and learning its many cultures.
We spent one month in the holy city of Rishikesh, in north of India near the Himalaya’s. It is there that we got our Yoga teacher training and we chose this city because of its spirit.
Many Yoga school can be found and the whole city is nonmeat eater and non-alcohol.

Saffron represents stands for courage and sacrifice. White represents peace, unity and truth. Green stands for faith and fertility. Blue symbolizes the sky and the ocean.
In its center is the Dharma Chakra, the wheel of law in the Sarnath Lion Capital. The Chakra represents the continuing progress of the nation and the importance of justice in life
Cow are venerated in India but not from a religious point a view. During the great Indian famine, food was nowhere to be found. Indian people instead of killing the cow, kept them alive and where nourishing themselves with cow milk.
Since them, cows are walking freely amongst cities. Sometimes they blocked a whole street, sometimes a merchant is pushing them away. But no-one is killing them.
Hinduism is the world’s oldest religion, according to many scholars, with roots and customs dating back more than 4,000 years. Today, with about 900 million followers, Hinduism is the third-largest religion behind Christianity and Islam. Roughly 95 percent of the world’s Hindus live in India. Because the religion has no specific founder, it’s difficult to trace its origins and history. Hinduism is unique in that it’s not a single religion but a compilation of many traditions and philosophies.
India is the mother of Yoga. Whether you practice a modern, more western style of Yoga axes on strength or a more traditional one with meditation, it all began in India.
Yoga is not only a sport, but it is a way of life, a way of thinking.
Language: The official language is Indian and English. More than 23 other tongues are spoken within India’s border. But going around with English is an easy thing.
Food: Another dream land for nonmeat lover. Even though you can find meat in restaurants, there are many options for plant-based diet eater. Local dishes included chapati, paratha, butter chicken, samosas, curry…
Transportation: It’s better to avoid the road, therefore flying is the best option. Train is also a great experience to have India but don’t await a high-speed train.
Money: The currency in India is the Rupee (INR). Rates changes, but at the time we were there 1€ was worth 85 INR. Credit card is accepted, and ATM are waiting you.
Plugs: The plugs in India are type C (Euro). The standard voltage is 220V with a frequency of 50hz.
Safety: India is generally safe, but it is better for women to avoid walking alone. Also watch you belonging and be extra cautious at night.
