Bosnia and Herzegovina is one of the country that emerged after the fall of Yugoslavia.
It is a beautiful country to visit. Full of history and wild landscape, it is home to medieval villages, rivers and lakes, plus the craggy Dinaric Alps.
The National capital Sarajevo has a well preserved old quarter, Baščaršija, with landmarks like 16th-century Gazi Husrev-bey Mosque.
The most famous spot is the old bridge of Mostar or the Dervish House in Blagaj.

Bosnia and Herzegovina ( abbreviated BiH or B&H) is sometimes called Bosnia–Herzegovina and often known informally as Bosnia.
It is a country at the crossroads of south and southeast Europe, located in the Balkans and even has a small access to the sea.
The country has 51 129 km² area and is home to 3 824 782 people. Its capital is Sarajevo.
It is home to three main ethnic groups, the Bosniaks, the Serbs and the Croats.
The triangle represents the approximate shape of the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The stars, representing Europe, are meant to be infinite in number and thus they continue from top to bottom. The flag features colors often associated with neutrality and peace – white, blue, and yellow.
The Golden Lily (Lilium Bosniacum) is Bosnia’s national symbol. It’s a native flower and traditionally represents gifts. It is used to decorate birthday cakes and wrapping paper. As a heraldic symbol, it dates back to the 14th-century Kingdom of Bosnia. Today, it represents both Bosnia and Bosniaks.
In 1984 Sarajevo hosted the Winter Olympics. It was the first time that a communist country had hosted the Olympics.
The most widely spread religion in Bosnia and Herzegovina is Islam and a large portion of the Muslims of Bosnia declared themselves as followers of the Sunni branch of Islam, the majority of Sunnis follow the Hanafi school of thought, also known as a madhab
What to expect?
Language: The official language is Bosnia and Herzegovina is Bosnian, but Serbian and Croatian are also part of the official languages. All of them being really similar.
Food: The most famous food is Cevapi (oblong-shaped kebabs from lamb and beef served in somun). Lots of food has arabic influence and we can find there Burek, Corba (soup) and so on….
Transportation: The best way to move around the country is to take the bus. It is a convenient and easy way to get around. But the best remains to get a car.
Money: The currency in Bosnia and Herzegovina is the Marka. Most places accept credit card, and many ATM can be found around. If you are coming from abroad Europe, think about using Azimo or TransferWise
Plugs: The plugs in Bosnia and Herzegovina are type C and F (same as EU). The standard voltage is 230V with a frequency of 50hz. Which is the same as all European countries.
Safety: Bosnia and Herzegovina is a really safe country as most of the Balkans are.
