The Easter island stand in the middle of the ocean, home to a Polynesian culture.

That you prefer a sunny dessert, a cold mountain, or a lost island, all can be found in Chile.

We spent 3 weeks in Chile and loved the mysterious Easter Island, the surrounding of the driest place on earth in Atacama or the treks of Torres del Paine.

About

Chile is a narrow country on the west coast of south America. This strip of land is surrounded on one side by the Pacific Ocean and by the Andes mountains on the other one.

Their land covers an area of 756 096 km² but their population only raise to 17.5 million.

The largest city is also the capital, Santiago.

Chile also claims about 1,250,000 km² of Antarctica

The star may represent a guide to progress and honor while other interpretations refer to its reference to an independent state; blue symbolizes the sky and the Pacific Ocean, white is for the snow-covered Andes, and red stands for the blood spilled to achieve independence

The llama, like its cousin the Alpaca, Vicuña and Guanaco is a camelid. Meaning it’s related to camels, although it doesn’t have humps.

Chile is one of their home. And their species can be found in the north.

The Easter island is part of Chile, and even if this small island with Polynesian culture is lost within the vast Pacific Ocean, it’s under the Chilean’s flag.

The Easter island became famous due to Moai (statue) spread all over.

Salar de Atacama is located south of San pedro de Atacama. The salt flat encompasses 3 000 km² making it the 3rd biggest salt flat in the world after Salar de Uyuni in Bolivia and Salinas Grandes in Argentina.

Money: The currency in Chile is the pesos. Rates changes, but at the time we were there 1€ was worth 865 Pesos. Most places accept credit card and many ATM can be found around.

Plugs: The plugs in Chile are type C (Euro type). The standard voltage is 220V with a frequency of 50hz.

Safety: Chile is a safe country for all type of travellers. In big cities, just watch your belongings against pickpocket.
