7 Proven Tips to travel blog at home

Write your old adventures

Most of us, travelled way before stating our blog, or we travelled but did not get time to write all our experiences on the blog. Now is the time to write about them. It could be harder to write a story or write with many details, but you can still make a guide and advise others.

Write it in a more general way and check-out online if you forget the names of some places. Also, if at that time, you do not remember or do not have a great picture, you can use CANVA to get some amazing picture (without bothering with the copyright).

If you look at post on our blog for Argentina, those are really organic one, made with fresh memory, but for example our Belgium post were harder to made and we had to make them more general, and borrow some pictures cuz by this time we weren’t into blogging and taking pictures but still want to share what we lived there and what we advise.

Develop your social media

The best way to get your blog out there and know by all is the social media. Most of us are already using Instagram and Facebook but Pinterest is what brings the most reader to your blog. So, it’s time to get online all your pictures.

Do not post them at once, but some everyday to keep constant and also to get more engagement from readers.

Additionally, start joining Pinterest board group, create nice Pin with CANVA, and if you even want to schedule some, CANVA can do it for you in the PRO version.

We are now doing Pinterest stuff since a few months and it starts to be a nice forefront for our blog.

Re-design your site

That is one of the first thing we did when we first were quarantine. Our blog was 6 months old or so, and it was really basic. Of course, it is hard to create a nice design if you don’t have content to relate to.

But after 6 months, we had some 100 articles, so it was enough to make a better design. So, we redesigned our complete sites. Every page had a new and fresh design.

We also built templates, so that one type of page (e.g. countries) will have the same design (more or less).

Expend your blog

Most of the travel blog are organised by destinations. But that is not all, you can add new ways to find a travel experience.

As we had time, we created pages based on:

  • Travel Couple
  • Hiking
  • Thru-Hiking
  • Wonders of the World
  • Road trip
  • And so on…

There are numerous ways to expend your blog. Plus, this does not mean that you will have to create new

Expend your focus

You might be a travel blog, but that does not mean that you only need to focus on travel. At first, it might have been, but you could very well expend your niche and focus.

During 2020, we started writing about our lifestyle (such as Yoga, food, Recipes), blogging…

We also started to build some online content and worked on our affiliation. You never know maybe, one day the blog could make some money.

With everything that is going on in the world, it’s a great call not to stick to one niche and expend your blog. This way you will get another type of readers.

Make Goals

For most of us, it is hard to manage our time and we can get overwhelmed. It’s understandable, as there are so many things to do to make work a blog.

The best way to keep on track is to have some daily or weekly goals. For us we are trying to keep:

  • Minimum 5 posts a week
  • At least 1 picture in Pinterest everyday
  • Everyday 1 Instagram Post

Take break

That’s an essential rule for us. Especially if you spend almost everyday in front of a laptop working on the blog. After a couple of hours, stop what you are doing and go out for walk, take some fresh air, watch some TV, read a book, talk with someone… do something else than the blog.

As human, after a while, we all lose focus and then we lost some quality in what we do. So taking a break is a mandatory thing to be able to work long hour!
